Cargo Room: 2019 Jaguar F-Pace
Far and away, the 2019 Jaguar F-Pace serves up more cargo space than the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. Chalk it up to priorities. The Stelvio offers only 18.5 cubic feet of storage. That'll take care of groceries and shopping bags but not antique furniture. On the other hand, the Jaguar is almost best-in-class with 33.5 cubic feet. Not shabby for a compact SUV--so if that's all you're looking for, the Jaguar is definitely your choice.
Price: 2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio
From base to top trim, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio is the more affordable option. The Stelvio starts at $40,200, giving you leather seats, five USB ports, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, power liftgate, push-button start and proximity key entry, eight-speaker audio system, and much more. Then there's the Jaguar F-Pace, which starts at $44,600. We've tried to figure out why the F-Pace costs thousands more, but besides a panoramic sunroof and larger touch screen, there's not much to go on.
On the other end, the top-tier Stelvio is the much-acclaimed Quadrifoglio. This trim level boasts luxurious features like suede upholstery, performance steering wheel, upgraded brakes, torque-vectoring differential, specially tuned steering and active suspension systems, Harman Kardon stereo, navigation, and HD Radio. But where the Stelvio Quadrifoglio really shines is under the hood.
The Jaguar F-Pace's top-tier trim is the SVR. This sporty trim offers S-branded pedals and seats, red brake calipers, and an adaptive suspension system, along with features from the previous trims like hands-free liftgate and ventilated seats. Both the SVR and Quadrifoglio sit at the same price point.
Acceleration: 2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio
You'll find the Stelvio has a powerful base engine: the 280-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder. Even this base engine gets to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds. The Quadrifoglio engine is a masterful 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 good for 505 horsepower. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio can leap from zero to 60 mph in under four seconds, making this one of the fastest SUVs on the market.
The base engine on the Jaguar is actually inferior to the Stelvio's. That's the 247-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder. At the other end, there's a 550-horsepower engine to consider. Though the horsepower looks good, the Jaguar goes zero to 60 in 5.1 seconds, more than a full second behind the Stelvio Quadrifoglio.
