Single-Minded Design
The 2018 Alfa Romeo 4C was built for speed. Everything has been whittled down to the absolute essentials. As a result, the 4C weighs just 2,500 pounds and goes zero to 60 in just five seconds. Take note, however, there is no muffler. You will definitely hear the raw power in this sports car. And so will your neighbors. You won't find any power steering or much in the way of shocks or ergonomics either, so be prepared to feel every imperfection in the pavement. There's no backseat and the trunk is incredibly small, just 4 cubic feet. This is not a commuter car. This car is built for speed and experience and thrill.
If you're prepared for all that, get ready for unbridled joy while driving. The turbocharged all-aluminum four-cylinder engine and a six-speed twin-clutch automatic transmission are more than adequate for such a lightweight vehicle. Keep a firm grip on the wheel because those bumps in the ride will affect this sensitive steering. Still, there's no surer way of feeling like you belong in a heist movie or spy thriller than getting behind this wheel and cruising to the nearest highway. You'll also get stellar gas mileage for a nimble sports car: 24 city miles and 34 highway miles per gallon.
Immaculate Styling
Hand-crafted sporty luxury. The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider is one of the most gorgeous cars on the market. The 4C's exterior styling is bound to catch people's eye no matter where they see it. The 4C looks surprisingly small next to the behemoths on America's roads today. The Spider is just over 13 feet long. The nose sits pretty low to the ground, making slanted driveways a little perilous, but giving the impression that the 4C Spider is eating up the road. Still, somehow getting into and out of the 4C is pretty effortless.
We love the hand-crafted, sculpted hood. The V-shaped grille continue into the beveled hood. Clean lines and perfect scoops make this Italian job both clean-shaven and muscular in look. The Spider comes with a removable roof panel, but this is the kind of car you buy to feel the wind in your hair.
We don't recommend the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider as a regular commuter car. Doing so would be a little impractical. But as a thrill-ride of a second car, one that connects you to the road, one that is hungry for speed, you would do well to get the 4C Spider.
